In response to Ontario’s 2025 Integrated Energy Plan “Energy for Generations”, Faisal Rezwan Director, Government Affairs, Policy and Economy Analysis at New Economy Canada said,
“The Ontario Government’s first ever integrated energy plan is an important step to bring diverse energy sources under a single plan and ensure a focus on getting things built in Ontario.
We can help Ontarians with affordability concerns and job opportunities while strengthening our energy and economic security by prioritizing cost-competitive and locally-built clean energy infrastructure, projects and tech. These projects and technologies help to cut energy cost and consumption, make Canadian made products more competitive across different markets, and move us forward in using reliable, clean energy to secure our energy needs.
We welcome the government in taking important steps in building Ontario’s energy system:
- A coordinated plan to prioritize affordability, security and a commitment towards clean energy.
- Investing in energy efficiency programs including the Home Renovations Savings Program to help Ontarian’s take advantage of energy efficient technologies.
- Advancing competitive procurements to new electricity generation and storage, providing an opportunity to add diverse and clean energy sources to Ontario’s mix.
- Modernizing grid and infrastructure, building out necessary transmission lines, and unlocking distributed energy resources such as rooftop solar panels and batteries to provide reliable electricity to consumers.
As the plan is implemented, we urge the government to encourage a broader suite of clean technologies to realize its ambition of becoming a clean energy superpower.
